Wheel Covers YES/NO?

OK, I have searched everything "Wheels", "Covers", etc., and no help.

Here I sit (but not for long, I'm moving North and West, very soon) in super sunny Alabama with my 4 wheels exposed to all the UV the Sun can provide! And, right now, that is a a very large helping.

I'm thinking, "I need to get some wheel covers to protect those new Marathons from UV destruction"!! But my practical side says, Oh yeah, prove it! 4 wheel covers = about $40.00. Will replace with NEW tires every 5 years, anyway.

So, prove it, all you experts! Thanks, Bill

Wheel Covers

Hi Bill,

Wheel covers just make good sense. My brother runs the tire warehouse for a large distributor and talked me into buying my wheel covers.

From a safety standpoint, covers keep the tires from breaking down because of UV. Just that alone is enough for me to protect them whenever possible. Safety First

Bill,
The covers won't prevent the tires from breaking down totally. And the covers help lots. At least it does in AZ.

Here is an interesting article from RV Travel regarding tire care.

Run For Covers

Once you have a set of wheel covers, you keep using them on the next set of tires.
So only a one time investment.
Even at every five years of use, tires will be getting dry rot more each day.
