Wheel bearings

Will be picking up our new baby on Monday. It has sat in a barn for 5yrs. We are 2 hours away. Should I look for a shop nearby to get the bearings packed before making the drive home? TIA.

Of course repacking the bearings is best practice, but, if you take the bearing cap off and look and also spin the wheel you will get a pretty good idea of the condition of the bearings.

No matter what, a great recommendation from Colin Hyde:

Get a cheap infrared thermometer (only about $30 at Harbor Freight) and keep an eye on the bearing temperature at frequent stops.

Is the '59 Overlander the new one?
