Wheel and Hub balancing

I have been searching for someone here in the Houston area who can balance the wheel and hub on the trailer. No luck so for. Found one shop that uses the Hunter’s on-vehicle balancing system that utilizes strobe and spinner technology to provide balancing on-the-vehicle. However they did not want to try it on the Airstream. They do large trucks and motor homes but were not sure about a trailer. Anyone in this part of the country have any suggestions.

Thanks Don

Though this is not a balancing shop, these things do work....you must call and get the right part number from them directly by letting them know this is for an Airstream.

There are folks on the forum that use these and swear by them.

Onboard Tire & Wheel Balance Systems, Tire Rotation, Tire Balance, Tire Balancing - Centramatic

Some big truck shops have this ability, though it may take quite a bit of calling around to find it. I tried while in Dallas and got exasperated with it. I drove to Fort Worth and bought some Centramatic balancers, that, with Discount Tires "Road Force" wheel/tire balancing on a Hunter GSP-9700 gave me as close a match as I'll find for now.

How about trying an Airstream dealer with a good service department?

I was going to guess 4 years ago but this seems to suggest 5 years. Balancing threads tended to turn hot back then. I seem to recall one thread giving a link to shops with the Snap-on static balancer equipment -- they weren't that common. Faulty memory or not -- more recently I've read "free information" here (get what you pay for?) that the only shop known to readers of that thread (not a large sample probably) with that equipment any more is Inland.

When I had the factory put new tires on my 28' Ambassador a few years ago I asked them about balancing the tire and wheel assembly. They told me it was not necessary and that they did not have the equipment to do it. In fact they sent my rims and tires to a local gas station for mounting and balancing.

I could not find a shop to balance my running gear and went with a commercial tire shop that put equal brand balanceing media in my tires and seems to have worked out well so far. Robert
