What do you think of the Black Rims

Hi Everyone

Just curious what you think of these. We often change 16 sports and 23' models to 15" rims. Earlier this year we put black rims on a 16' and everyone liked the look. So for the 23' I took on vacation this summer I did the same thing but somehow it did not look as good.

After we returned I took it to a rally with a Black car and everyone was commenting on how nice the wheels looked on the Airstream. I never thought of matching wheel color to the vehicle before. Has anyone else changed rim colors?

I do want to like black rims as I am seeing them more and more on cars and trucks - but haven't yet. I don't know why.

Something just isn't right but I am not sure what. Maybe it is me or maybe there are just some elements of style that never change.

well, you asked

I kinda like the style of the rims, but I'm not into the whole new black colored rim things. just blends with the tires. I like chrome or polished aluminum. JMO, BTW when are whitewalls coming back?

I think they look cheap and old.

It is all opinion anyway, there is no answer to the question.

Can't really tell. Too dark to see clearly. I saw a Older Bambi the other day with red wheels and propane tank that looked pretty sharp.

Not much on the black rims myself. Still trying to figure out what we want to do with the Liner's rims. I really like the half moon hubcaps with wide whites pictured above.

I like Tumbleweeds trailer rims but not AndrewT's. Airstreams need the shiny bling rims.

Kind of like the riveted look of my new American racing wheels.

Those look really good Shacksman. I bet they look great on a newer AS.

The wheels look nice, but they look like 4 x 4 pickup wheels. I think the combination would look better if the tow vehicle had similar black wheels.
I am more intrigued with the extra side marker lights and the white Mercedes tow vehicle.
I recently switched to Sendel T03 16' wheels and chose the ones with "silver inlay" vs. "black inlay" to look more like what Airstream puts on the new Classics and to be similar to the wheels on the tow vehicle- silver, 5 spokes.
There was a 68 Tradewind ('Forum member 68twind) at the campground over the weekend with black wheels and baby moons. That was sweet.
Blue wheels with baby moons is also cool to match the blue stripe, awning, and Zip Dee chairs.

I also like the mag wheels on the 70's trailers and the gray spoke wheels with trim rings on the 90's trailers.

The modern black wheel trend does yield some good looking combinations, especially on a black, silver, white, blue or red vehicle that has black door handles and a black grill and tinted windows.
I think the "black wheel craze" is brought on by the younger generation and the aftermarket. I guess all trends start that way-

Unless I see them close enough to know otherwise, I presume a dark colored wheel is a dirty steel wheel missing it's hubcap.
