At one point in my life I worked in a large brand name tire chain. You would not have wanted my opinion or the opinion of my coworkers as we didn’t know much.

The original centramatic..😏

Ted,

In my very early working life I too worked,(part time), at a 'tire store'...best smile producing experience, finding the remnants of several golf balls in the tire.😂 ...."i don't know it must have been done by the original owner, we just bought the car"🙄

These balancers are on the Steer Axle of thousands of tractors. Problems in that industry would have forced things long ago.

I just received my Centramatics and was getting ready to install when i noticed that they sent me 2 As and 2 Bs. I was very specific when I ordered them to let them know that they were going on a TT with 16" wheels. #300-356. My understanding is I should have all As and the Bs are for steering axles. I called the company I ordered them from, (not Centramatics) and they told me that according to the techs at Centramatic, the Bs will work just as well and no need to exchange them. I am not impressed but before I push the issue, has anyone used the Bs along with the As? Other than the step on the Bs, they do look very similar.

I would call Centramatic directly. This seems odd. If there is no difference, why is there an "A" and a "B" version? (I didn't know there was and can't find reference to that on their website). I ordered mine directly from Centramatic and they actually called me to confirm my order because they though I might have made a mistake. I upgraded my 14 inch 5-bolt wheels to 15 inch 5-bolt wheels. OEM 15 inch wheels have 6 bolts, so my order "didn't sound right" to Centramatic. So they called me to confirm. I thought that was great.

Please excuse me if this has been dealt with earlier along this discussion as I have not read from the beginning. My question involves using the centramatic balancers on the tow vehicle. I have them already installed on my trailer and find them satisfactory. I have a '15 F-350 4x4, SRW with short bed. My truck is approaching 65k miles and for some time I occasionally find a vibration in the steering that has, a few times, led to the infamous death wobble. Yes, I've been back to Ford with this both when I still had the original factory warranty and with the extended one. They have been "0" help and keep telling me that everything is good and they cannot replicate my complaint. My tires are original Michelins and will be getting replaced at the end of the summer with new Michelins most likely. So here we are in a discussion of centramatics. Does anyone run them on the tow vehicle ??? I'm seriously considering getting a set and installing them when I put the new tires on. There's so much discussion on front end wobbles it puts me to sleep. Tire balance, ball joints, worn tires, shocks ( new Bilstiens last year) and I'm thinking that the centramatics will take balance out of the picture.

Thanks all for any help with this. See ya down the road sometime.

I have the centramatics on both my AS & TV. My TV is an older Ram 2500HD that has drum brakes in the rear. No amount of balancing the rear wheels got rid of the vibration until I put the Centramatics on. Ride is now smooth and vibration-free.

Their model 200-221 Special fits both 15" and 16" wheels and come in a set of 4. Strange you'd get an A and B???
