A "rim" is the outside part of a wheel. The term came from the old "split rim" wheels.

A wheel is a disc, joined to a hub, and is designed to turn around an axle or shaft.

BUT!!!!!!!!
Just because a wheel may fit, there is a great difference between wheels. A proper steel wheel for an Airstream trailer, must have a rating of at least 2600 pounds. If less than that, they "WILL" fail.

To see the result of using a wheel with an unknown rating, or an inadequate rating, go to our web site and see the photos of a "junk yard" wheel, in the articles section. inlandrv.com

If that doesn't convince someone of the hazard of improper wheels, nothing will.

Wheels

Get an RV wheel. Acquire it new from a RV dealer, or used from a RV salvage yard. There is a salvage yard here in Phoenix and several across the country. I am just not familar with the Northeast. - Note the bolt pattern will likely match to an automotive axle, however an automotive wheel is too weak.

Match the spare tire with the rating* for the rest of your tires. Do not skimp on tire or wheel. (It messes up a good vacation.) Then have it all balanced.

* The rating on the tire side wall is for max inflation. If you add the rating for all of the tires on the ground, it should be greater than the total fully loaded weight of the trailer. If not than new tires are needed.
