Sealed Wheel Bearings

Any idea what model/model year started using sealed wheel bearings? Thank you in advance.

Weren't they optional on other models? On the Classic? I don't know, my '07 Classic has them, but I thought I remembered Easy Lubes were standard and Never lubes were optional?????

I carry spare bearings (don't have the neverlube). I save the best set after I change to new bearings, keeping them in grease in an old coffee can, and figure they're good enough to get me home if I have a problem.
