Rusty center caps

I replaced the original chrome center caps last year and guess what? The new ones are already more rusted than the originals (which I still have).

Anyone got any ideas for removing the rust without pulling the wheels again?
Any ideas how to keep the rust off?

Any inexpensive sources to re-chrome my originals? (local Guy wanted $125/ea!!!)

Thanx, Bill

Hi Bill, Get some very-very fine steel wool and chrome polish. Use the steel wool to apply the chrome polish and buff-off with a soft cloth. The steel wool will remove the rust and the chrome polish will leave a nice shine. Sadly it's temporary. They will rust after awhile depending on how much moisture is around.

Yeah, that's what I have been doing, hoping to find something more…robust?
