Mud flaps
Added some custom made mud flaps to my 23D today. Made these to help keep road grime and debris off my dump valves. These 2 mud flaps were made barometer a single BIG truck mud flap purchased at my local NAPA auto parts store for $8. I cut them to shape with a bandsaw and used a radius copier to find the curve of the bottom of the trailer. These and mounted using pop rivets and replaced the 1” wide aluminum trim piece located in the back of the wheel well with a piece of 1” angle aluminum. My trailer has a 3” lift on it so keep that in mind when looking at length and clearances.

Ok, not only smart, but it looks really great! I have a bandsaw, and will swipe your idea...[emoji3]

Missed this earlier Ronnie. Nice work. I don’t have a band saw, I wonder if jigsaw or dremmel would work?
Have you noticed any difference? Do they work well?

Rich,
You could cut with just about anything. Haven’t towed with them yet but leaving Monday so I’ll keep you posted. In theory they should work well.

Great idea It looks like it’s made from flex rubber? My only question concern would be it sailing back causing unneeded stress on the trim I may be overthinking but that’s me maybe a no sail flap?

The aluminum angle replaces the flat aluminum bar stock and is mounted to the frame.

Excellent idea! I will be very interested to see how this works out. It looks a little close to the tire and am curious to know if it blows back against the tire at highway speed.

I pulled the trailer 150 + miles to the beach this week with my parents following in their Class C and my Dad said the new flaps did not move very much at all going 65-68 MPH going down the RD. I have not pulled with them in the rain yet but so far so good.

After about 4000 miles on these puppies they are a great addition. They work well at keeping sand and grime off the dump valves.

Likewise I put about 4000 miles on over summer after copying GMFL’s great idea and agree it was a great addition. On my install I have the flaps drop 6.5 inches below the body. This fall when the weather is a little cooler I plan to replace the flaps so they are an inch longer to keep mud off my grey tank valve rod.
