Moon hub caps

Where is the best place to purchase moon hubcaps for 68 Globetrotter? Ours had Ford hubcaps and we want originals.

I tried O'Rilleys and they looked good but kept falling off ,I started with 4 and now I have 1 in the shed, so I put the Ford truck hubcaps back on . 1 Baby moon in the shed and out $60.00

as far as originals ,,,, maybe someone will chime in

I believe that your coach didn't come with moon hub caps. It would have come with a full wheel cover. I have found that Airstream used the same wheel for all of the coaches that have the clips for baby moons.

Don't get me wrong. Baby moons do look cool, but most likely were not original to your coach when new. I will have to dig around for the photo of the full wheel cover that was most likely stock. It appears to look like a baby moon, but is not. I should be able to have it for you tomorrow.

The thing is, our "original wheels" were split rings. Since we changed out our wheels to safer modern Dexters that tire-guys will work on, the "original" hub caps wouldn't fit anymore. The split rings had tabs...the Dexters don't.

We found inexpensive baby moons at Pep Boys a couple of years ago, but at last check, they no longer carried them. Bummer...I would have stocked up had I known they weren't going to be there forever. Oh well, they only last a couple of years, before they got rusted, damaged or lost on the road...they were only about $6-8 each so I didn't care or worry about them. Maybe your local PB still has them ~

I got 4 Smoothie Moons which are full wheel covers for our '66 Tradewind from <hubcapmike.com>. The set of four cost $80+. They really look good.

Go here.
http://wheelvintiques.com/shopsite_s...ml/page84.html

I actually got a set of Silver Streak caps from a wrecking yard here in Phx. Set me back for $20 for 4. Took the SS off the cap and they look OK now.

My non-split wheel had tabs.

Hi mimibeth,

Try,
Hub Cap City
495 W. San Carlos St.
San Jose CA 95110
(408) 280-6833 No email contact.

I bought a set of 4 ,$50.00 . Made in Taiwan, pretty thin on chrome, but they will do until my trailer is completely done.
They mount on the nubs of the wheel, not with clips.

That is what I bought from Hubcap Mikes. I have 3 wheels with clips and 2 with the nubs. So getting the small caps which I thought were original would not work for me unless I bought a couple of new wheels. I really like the 'smoothie moons as pictured.

These "Airstream" baby moons were installed by the PO of my 1960 Tradewind. He got them from an eBay store that he thought was based in Chicago. I bet this is a link to the place http://stores.ebay.com/HUBCAPS-TO-GO. Here's a pic and they do look nice. Sorry the logo isn't straight up.

What years?

What years were baby moons on the AS? We have a 1962 ambassador. We are getting new tires next week and would like to snazzzz up the wheels? Wondering if we should find baby moons or hubcaps of a diffrent shape.
