Lugnut Cap Spinning

Has anyone had the original AS "beauty" cap over a lugnut spin around the real nut and cannot remove it? If so, how did you deal with it? Cold-chisel it off the nut? Force a 6-pt, deep socket over it with a mallet and try to screw the whole thing off as intended?

Apparently some genious used a 12-pt socket and managed to round off and loosen the cap.

Haven't had to do it with the AS lugs...

What I did with the old TV, cut off cover carefully w/die grinder and get a metric 6 point, should fit well enough to remove.

The solid chrome replacements 'aint cheep.... but not a bad idea.

Replaced all of mine when I did the 16" conversion this week. You want 1/2"-20, bulge seat, acorn nuts. Depending on brand, they will take a 3/4 or 13/16 socket, so don't mix brands unless you want different wrench sizes. I paid about $30 for 24 nuts (6 packages of 4).

The 13/16" nuts have a slightly higher weight rating. I'd recommend them, unless the lug nuts are inset in the wheels, and you wouldn't be able to remove them.
