+1. Installed the McGards when I installed the 16" wheels and Michelins. Can't say no worries, but less worries anyway.

Ok, just to confirm before I order, either the Mcgard 64010 or the AccuWheel LNA-12000C6 Chrome Bulge Acorn Wheel Lug Nuts (1/2"-20 Thread Size) 1.4" Tall nuts will fit by 2017 FC. It has the 15" rim and I'm going to the 16".

Yes.
That is the lug nut I ordered for my 2013 Classic when going from 15" to 16" wheels.
1 year later and the tires, wheels, and lug nuts still appear as new.
The hub/brake drum/axle should be the same on your trailer and my trailer- same lug pattern.

Sendel Lug Nuts- four sets & locking nut $29.00

I have a running Thread that solves the problem with the two piece lug nut.

'16" Sendel Wheels & 16" Michelin LTX Tires' Been running since March 22, 2016.

Below is the lug nut set for four wheels and that includes a socket and a lug nut keyed to the socket for security. I have had no issues with these lug nuts.

All of the lug nuts from my Airstreams are in a box on a shelf. I have encountered people trying to remove the original lug nuts and mangle the outer metal skin making them unusable. When you use a socket on them, you will also 'mash' the metal skin, for a lack of a better term.

If you get the lug nuts from Sendel... you cannot go wrong. Although they could be purchased somewhere else for less... you could end up buying them after trying the others. No rust issues on either lug nuts.

*******

16" Sendel Wheels and Michelin LT225/75R16 LTX M/S2 Load Range E tires. S20-66655T, 16x6 at a cost of $106.40 each.

-16" Sendel Wheels
Five wheels @ $532.00
One set of lug nuts for four wheels @ $29.00
Handling/Boxing charge in three cartons @ $22.95
Delivery via FedEx Ground 3-21 tendering date / delivery date 3-24 from CA
Total Cost: $583.95 Performance Plus

Replaced all the stock lug nuts on my trailer. The two piece jobs are just this side of junk. AND, while you can run the trailer on 3 wheels/tires, I want to be able to change a tire on the road....without having to do a "work around" with a cheap lug nut that separates when you try to remove it.

Fortunately I was able to find one-piece lug nuts at the local Napa store. They only had 20 on hand, but will have the other 4 in in the morning. Just wanted to see if this is a common problem or another one of those "No, Bob, just you" moments. Seems a shame AS would not opt for a quality part in such a critical location.

So sorry for your experience. We had the exact same experience with the poorly designed OEM lugs. I stripped 3 and just couldn't get them off! Finally took the coach to our local Discount Tire and they helped no charge. I did an autopsy on one of the stripped lugs and couldn't believe the shoddy two-part construction.

Replaced them all with Gorilla Automotive 41187HTB Heat Treated Acorn Bulge Lug Nuts (1/2" Thread Size). Torqued each down to specifications. Also added a lock lug to each tire.

Hang in there, it gets better as you make your new Pendleton home.

Thanks Dennis
Everything is going well with a few hiccups. Now the awning won't work. Bob called zipdee and they sent new motor and control board but still doesn't work. Now we have an appt at the dealer to see if they can fix it. The frustrating part is that it did work on our first outing and then no more. Sigh....
Still love the trailer but sad about problems that occur. Still not willing to give it up!

Here is an earlier post I made concerning the same issue. Any shared experience with the tuner spline drive lug nuts will be appreciated.

Previous Post:We have had problems with the lug nut clearance between a 3/4 socket and the aluminum wheel on our 2017 Flying Cloud 26U. The nut appears to be of two-piece construction and the outer shell can become distorted during tightening thus reducing the already slight socket/wheel clearance. A tire shop suggested using a single piece construction lug nut. Since then I have discovered a spline drive lug nut (Gorilla, McGard et al) that has a smaller socket/key OD. This would seem to solve this problem. I will appreciate thoughts and/or experiences on the new lug nut approach - especially that spline drive choice. Thanks for any help

I got rid of my lug nuts when I went to 16” wheels with Michelin’s. Replaced the two part nuts with McGards. Have had zero issues since.

Yep, me too. Those 2 piece lug nuts are junk. Don't know why AS still uses them.

PO went to 16 wheels and nice lug nuts but I found out the space between wheel and nut does not allow a regular + bar tire tool to get in.

I tried a regular 3/4" socket and it works fine, i coupled that with a 24" breaker bar and walla in control of tires again.

I'll add one more quick story about two-piece lug nuts. After noticing a slow leak in one tire, I attempted to remove the wheel in my driveway to have the tire tested. I could remove 4 of 6 lug nuts with a 3/4" +type bar. On two of the nuts I could not seat the socket fully enough over the outer cover to bite, no matter what I did. I ended up taking the trailer to a local Les Schwab who took the wheel off, fixed the tire, and replaced the lug nuts with Gorillas on all four wheels (for $48.00). We are very glad we did this at home with local resources - rather than finding out on the side of the highway that I couldn't do this on my own.
