Hubcaps for '67 Caravel

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of hubcaps
I can get for my Caravel? (I know you do. ) The PO had
new wheels put on and horrible hubcaps. I wonder what
style to get and where.

Thanks,
Heidi

Heidi Ho!

You're not a REAL vintage Airstream owner until you spend some amount of time being frustrated by a search for baby moon hubcaps.

There's a photo of a '67 Caravel with them on at the vintage airstream.com photo archive. (Sorry--I can't get the link to work).

I found some cheapo baby moons that fit my Dexter wheels at Kragen Auto parts. They were like $4 each, and they look good. At least, they look good now that they've been on the trailer one weekend (I took them off for the road trip to/from Colorado, put them on when I got there). For 4 bucks, it's probably a good thing that it doesn't rain/snow here!

We too found "cheapies" (at Pep Boys) that fit our Dexter wheels. We keep a spare pair handy in case they one gets lost. Besides, I'd be afraid we'd lose expensive ones. Not to mention "original" hubcaps wouldn't fit our new (non-split-ring) wheels.

Baby Moon Hub Caps and Beauty Rings

Bob Drake. http://www.bobdrake.com

Hub Caps: 01A-1130-BM ('40 Ford, No Imprint)

Trim Rings: 01A-18303-15 (Other styles available, see web site)

Ask for Jim Jordan. Phone: 800 221-3673

These are very nice pieces. High quality stainless steel stampings with a highly polished finish.

Also, I would recommend adding a bead of silicone adhesive to the flat on the back side of the hub cap. The little fingers on our wheels were a little weak from the ravishes of father time. Adding the silicone makes me feel a little more secure about the hub caps staying in place while still making it possible to remove them if I need to change a tire or service the brakes.

baby moon hubcaps

you can also purchase them thru all ford parts, dell ave cambell, calif they are about 20 dollars a piece for good quality stainless steel polished reproduction of fords baby moon . be sure to ask for them in non script , without the ford logo. there are two types. one is a smooth dome, the othher has a groove spun toward the outer edge and looks more like tyhe airstream one with the rings embossed in it. i used these on my 62 globetrotter, worked out real nice and yes do run a bead of clear silicone with them. also they have trim rings in stainless with a matching groove in them that look real nice for 20 bucks each. this is the way to go opposed to finding /restoring re chroming originals and oh the price. i powder coated my wheels, looks of the period. i can direct you to a pictures link of them on my 62 globetrotter if interested, wayne wunder , w.b.c.c.i. /v.a.c.#1859 62 GLOBETROTTER/99 SAFARI

I have 4 freshly powdercoated Original Airstream steel wheels w/near new tires available. I will also have 4 Original baby moon hubcaps available, once they come back from the chrome shop. The baby moons have the grooves on the outside edges.

Unhappy

Would the baby moons and trim rings fit a 66 Safari?

Would the other 4 hubcaps fit it?

don't know which way to go - Had original ones, but one came off on the drag home from upper WI so only have the one now

Thanks
