Hubcap / Hubcap clips

I want to put new hubcap clips on all my hubcaps because the old ones are rusted and broken. I need to know where I can purchase hubcap clips? These are the hubcaps that were on my 73 overlander and I also would like to know if they are the original hubcaps?

They are the originals. As for replacments, you would probably have to get some hubcaps, and remove and replace them onto your hubcaps.

If you can figure out a way to replace the clips go for it. Those hubcaps are not cheap to come by. You see them fairly regularly on ebay. The price range I have seen is $50 to $200 per hubcap.

I posted this last year and I am bringing it up to the portal again. I have looked and researched the repair of a hubcap. I have not found any information that will help me repair the clips on the other side of the hubcap. I would like to install them again. I can put them on but the clips on the cap are so rusted and fragile I know it would be a matter of time before I would lose one. Any ideas?

replacemet hubcaps

The 70's model Airstream all had the same style and look hubcap. I have the 4 original 15" hubcaps that came on my 1976 Sovereign. They are in very good shape and the clips are all in very good condition and were on my A/S until I replaced my old wheels with aluminum wheels. The hubcaps are available and a picture of one is below. Except for the blue painted area on your hubcap which has worn off on my they are identical.

If you are interested in these PM me and I will make you a very good deal to put these hubcaps back in service.

Nomenclature for hubcaps

What exactly is this type of "clip" hubcap called?
They are not in use anymore according to the biggest junkyard dealer in our area. I lost an original hubcap (along with some of my teeth) on the extremely bumpy WV turnpike. It happened shortly after I had my '73 28 foot Argosy repainted so it's my bad for not checking a little closer to see how well they had gotten back on.

I am not quite ready for new wheels yet so I would just like to replace the hubcap.

Thanks for your help.
Don

The best idea I can come up with is to buy a trim ring of the same diameter and fasten it inside your old hubcap with rivets or epoxy glue. You will have to cut off the remains of the old clips off the hubcap first.

I have seen both?

I hope this is not considerd a hi-jack. I am wandering as I purchased the set of 70's hubcaps listed on the classifieds here a month ago. I thought the price was good as they are in nice condition. I had been useing 1955 chrysler windsor deluxe wheel covers until I found these. They are like the ones that I bought my trailer with but I do have the baby moon clips on my wheels. Was there an option for full covers or baby moons in 71 as I have seen both and owners say they are original. Robert
