Put that side on first

Tom,

My guess because all you have holding up the other side is a 2x4 resting on top of an 8x8 standing vert. along with a bottle jack to hold up that side, the "X" is telling you to put those wheels back on first (the "X" side) so you can then move the jackstands over to the other side before installing the wheels?

Just giving you a hard time, but be careful.

The "X" is telling you that side goes on the drivers side. The trailing arm to the rear.

Are they 12" brakes I see? Not the 10" that comes with a 3000 axle?

BTW, I need to get with you about your AC rebuild. I'm finally getting around to rebuilding my 1966 Bay Breeze for the summer season. I'll send you a PM.

Not shown is the Mighty Burb anchoring the show:

But thanks for your concern.

Yes - you're looking at 12-inch brakes (as if Andy would have sold me anything else for a 26' Airstream )

I am happy to help all I can with your AC. PM is fine, but my email address is listed at my Overlander's website (link below).

The "X" could mean "this side out".

Or maybe even "this end up".

Or it could be that all the exs were in Texas. Now they are in AL.

Several replies seem to go along the thought of balancing the drums. I personally would have used something a little more sustantial than chalk for balancing. The chalk would just wipe right off.

A set of axles arrived here last week. I looked and looked and could find no "x" anywhere on them. I feel kind of left out now. I did see two "XX" though on a bottle of beer last night. It was Cinco de Mayo also.
