Help Me Order My 16 inch Rims

Hey Gang, I'm about to go ahead and upgrade to 16's. Wife and I have decided we're liking the looks of the Sendel T02. I noticed there are two versions of this in 16x6 and I want to make sure I'm ordering the correct one once I find a good price.

Having a hard time searching the forum, but I the specfics I think I need to be aware of are

6 lug, 5.5 bolt pattern, 0mm offset and 4.25 in bore size. Is this correct? Can someone verify for me. Thanks.

6 lug 5.5 chevy bolt pattern is correct. 0mm is correct for vintage trailers but many have played with a inside offset to place the wheels out further, I'm not sure it matters maybe others can chime in on the reasons!? The 4.25 bore size is standard and you will have enough room for your dust cap. I remember reading on the forums that if you have grease buddies you need a larger bore size so the grease buddies fit into beauty wheel cap?!

NOTE: If you go with 16 x 7 you will have far greater selection in tires! since that is the reason why most switch from 15 to 16 rim size, is to use LT tires over Trailer tires.

We have a 25 international with 16 rims and Michelin tires from a Airstream Classic, they look great and i feel more confortable with the Michelin tires rather than the Goodyear's

That's my plan, just need rims because I have 15's now. Shopping for my rims, want to make sure all my numbers match so I can bolt them up.

Am I missing something? Are you saying you need the rims only because you already have 15's?

I have OE 15's in the style of Sendel S20's with Crappyear Marathons.

So I need rims so I can go with 16 inch LT tires. Obviously.

Is that the Amazon seller, I see Shadow Industries, they run Trailer Wheel & Tire Superstore. We offer trailer rims, trailer tires with Free Shipping over $50. and I've been staring at the T06GM now for an hour and think I changed my mind and want these. Hmm.... picking wheels is tough.

Don't know if it matters to you or not, but the T03's have a higher load capacity than the T02 or T06.

16x6
6 on 5.5
4.25 bore
0 offset

I bought mine through the Trailerwheels.com site you linked above and they were great to deal with. Ordered them online on Sunday and they were in my hands Thursday morning. Free shipping. These are the wheels only and do not include lugs, center caps or valve stems. Bought my tires through Tire Rack and had them mounted and balanced locally. Installed them on the trailer myself. Sold my old wheels on Craigslist.

Did anybody call Airstream to see what wheels they put on their EB models? Why not buy exactly the same thing?

Wheels

Just got my new wheels and tires. Wheels came from performance plus tires as suggested by moose tags in an earlier thread. They were $112 ea with free freight. There was a 20 handling charge. Look great. There is a sticker on the hub to use zero offset wheels.

Can you go from 14 inch to 16 inch wheels on a 2006 23 ft Safari? Then go with the Michelins? If so what size Michelins?

Factory uses Sendel 16x6.5 they are chrome with black highlights on the inside of the "spokes" we ordered them on the 2015 30' FC we took delivery on this past fall. Much to our surprise as we thought we would be getting Sendels like we put on our previous 30' AS, all chrome. But it worked out as they almost match the wheels on our Ford F350 Platinum with the black inserts.

Should have posted this in the previous email. This is a return email I got from Airstream Corporate when I switched from 15' to 16' on my previous 30' FC.

Hello, The rim size should be:
16x6
5.5 bolt pattern
4.25 center hole
with an offset of 0
the tire sizes that we use would be 16" LTX M/S LT 225/75R16 Load range E

Both the Michelin and the Good Year Marathon ST are good tires. The Good Year Marathon are made specifically for trailers and the Michelin are for Light Trucks.

As you can see they still protect themselves supporting the ST tires, but put 16" Michelins on any trailer you want when you order the unit from the factory and ok it when I sent in my question as to whether it was ok or not.

The consensus seems to be that upgrading from 14" wheels on the 23' trailers is best done to 15" wheels, and not to 16". Here is a link to a recent discussion of this (which starts at post #41):

Thanks for verifying the numbers guys. I think we are starting to like the looks of the T06. As for the load rating it will be more than adequate for our 27ft FB International.

I have priced Tire Rack & Discount Tire, and currently, the better deal is Trailerwheels.com (Free shipping) and getting the tires and having them mounted at Costco.

Presently 4 of the Michelin LTX M/S LT 225/75R16 are 720.00 before shipping on Tirerack.com and 846.04 with shipping to my area.

Where as at Costco it's $689.96 for a set of 4 with current instant rebate. The surprising thing is, that actually Tirerack is cheaper per tire, but the shipping completely nullifies the cost. Even the $15 per tire to mount and balance I end up ahead of Tirerack.

Here's a pretty good deal from Discounttiredirect.com which is where I got mine. $70 Visa cash card and free shipping. It's cheaper than Costco in my neck of the woods who adds sales tax when purchasing locally. Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct

Discount Tire has arrangements in most cities (where they have no direct dealership), with many local businesses who will mount, balance, and dispose of your old tires for $16 each.

Did you need new centre caps going from 15 OEM to 16 Sendel? I've read that the OEM centre caps will fit.

I did need new centre caps going from 14 OEM to 15 Sendel on my 23FB.
