Hard time finding wheels
I am restoring an Airstream for a friend and I am having a hard time finding wheels. I have attached the bolt pattern and the diameter when measured from stud to stud is 7.25”. That seems odd because most wheels I see have a 5.5” diameter. Anybody have any suggestions?
6 bolt pattern.
Thanks,
Nick

They seem to only have 5.5” diameter (lug to lug) wheels and mine is 7.25”. That’s where I am confused.

I am having trouble narrowing that down, too. I have attached the plate next to the entry door, but the metal plate next to the door says 7004.
Any help would help, thanks,
Nick

So what year is this Airsteam? Standard 6 bolt rim is 5.5" bolt circle. You might have to replace the whole axle.

wheels
Older 1/2 Chevy pickup wheels fit some of the older Airstreams. Fairly popular in lots of custom wheels and plentiful in wrecking yards.

Going with a passenger car or light truck wheel might get you into some excitement.
The trailer wheels are rated at 2500 to 2600 pounds. Most passenger car or light truck wheels are rated for much less than that.
The forces that trailer wheels are subject to, especially during turns on a dual axle trailer are far different than a passenger car or light truck.

6 lug on 7.25 lug pattern
I found these posts on your lug pattern that suggests its from Dodge, International Harvester, Ford trucks through the 60's.
https://forums.ihpartsamerica.com/sh...ad.php?t=10629
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ly-wheels.html
I'm curious to see a couple photos of the axle(s) on the trailer. Are the brakes hydraulic? Perhaps someone got creative with swapping parts from a truck??
Regarding the id plate I have to wonder if its original to the trailer. I don't recall ever seeing one that was not pop riveted on from the factory. The fact that it doesn't show LA and Jackson Center listed probably places it prior to the 60's. Photos of both sides of the trailer would help identify the model, since no model plate is next to the id plate.
Does the owner have a title? What year is listed there?

Your trailer is likely way older then this.
Airstream stopped manufacturings trailer in California in 1979.
