After a lot of experimentation, I've found that the inner, steel lug nut is easily removed with a 18 mm, 6-point socket. (The two-piece, capped nut is removed with a 3/4 inch socket.)

I had the same problem on my 2014 FC25. The mechanics in Jackson Center advised using a 3/4' six-point socket on the bare nut. It worked well enough. I replaced all the nuts with McGard 64010 nuts. Try Amazon.

I certainly agree with you about the poor quality of some of the stuff Airstream supplies.

My Mcgards should arrive here tomorrow. They cost just under 60 bucks for 24, with free shipping courtesy of Amazon prime. I'll get to enjoy trying to get the original two piece nuts off this weekend, When I install the Centramatics. Hopefully it will work out.
