GBC2000 wheels and Maxxis tires

I couldn't stand it any longer! I ordered 3 new brake assemblies to replace the round magnet units on my '86 Sovereign 25' currently, 18 screw-in studs to fit the other Dexter drums rather than ordering 3 new ones, 4 GBC2000 15" wheels and 3 more Maxxis ST225-75-15 D range tires to match the one I put on last October.

truckasaurus, looks like we will have a good comparison of Maxxis and Goodyears on the same wheels.

That is the same Chinese wheel that comes on the Safari SE models from the factory.

I forgot to mention that I opted for the center caps with the plastic plug insert so that I could check hub temps after a bearing repacking or other maintenance.

15" GBC2000 & Maxxis

Now that I am back from my mother's funeral in TX., I ran the 4 rims to my local tire dealer who ordered 3 Maxxis 225-75-15 tires for me. Pictured are the GBC2000 rims, Maxxix tires and center caps with removable centers for checking hubs. I think they will look pretty good and allow me to check lugnut torque before leaving for any destination.

That's a great-looking wheel and tire combo.

Condolences on your loss.

Thanks utee94. Like many mothers, she was an extraordinary woman.

Back to GBC2000 wheels, instructions which came with them and the lug nuts say to torque the wheel to 100 pounds. On the other hand, a site I bookmarked last year which had all the wheels used on Airstreams shows the Safari and Bambi wheel as being torqued to 115 pounds. I wonder which is correct?

100 to 115 ft. lbs. is a good "range". Lower to middle of that range is probably best. Would'nt exceed 115 ft. lbs. Of importance, is to torque them all the same within this range. Check them for seating related change after the first 25 mi., then 300 mi., and periodically thereafter ( before and after a trip). They do change!

A little far away but the Greenballs make the Sovereign look much better.

Seven years and both wheels as well as tires are doing great.
