Ford Trailer TPMS Kit

Ford offers a kit for the 2017 F250 which integrates trailer TPMS functionality into the TV's standard TPMS system. All tires can then be monitored from the multi-function screen in the instrument cluster.

The specs for the kit indicate that the included trailer wheel sensors will only fit wheels with a J type flange wider than 3.5" (88.9mm) and a .452" (11.48mm) valve stem hole.

Does anyone know what the spec is for these dimensions on an Airstream wheel, specifically for the 16" wheels that come on the later Classics? Has anyone used this kit?

It occurs to me that if I at least knew the manufacturer of the 16" wheels on the Classic I could probably track down the info I'm looking for, so if anyone knows that.....

Thanks.

In another post switz mentions that they are 16" SenDel T03-66655T wheels that were used on 15/16 Classics. That should get you the data you're looking for. www.sendel.com has spec pages and contact info. 866-320-6891

A little pricy but might be worth it for the convenience factor.

That's what I was thinking, too; it would be one less accessory/monitor in the cab.

Following as I have the kit but have not installed it as yet. Not sure why Ford did not make it a wireless thing. I also have the camera.

I just bought a new F-250. I wanted the TPMS feature as well, but the dealer stated that the truck must have the factory-installed Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System in order to add TPMS. Also requires Sync3.
It would be nice to see the read-out integrated with the dash screen, but after looking into what's involved, I'm satisfied with an after-market wireless unit, which seems less of an undertaking.

Hi

Depending on which tires you have on your trailer, that also may be a concern. The Michelin's that come on some of the newer trailers have steel in the sidewalls. Ford cautions about this. It may or may not be an issue ....

I have the Classic and the 2017 F250. I added the Ford TPMS kit. It works as advertised- no issues whatsoever. I mounted the sensor pickup on the side of the battery box because I found it the easiest place on the frame to drill for the sheet metal screws.

Excellent. And it sounds like you were able to DIY which is also encouraging. Thanks for the feedback, Pete.

Tst tpms

TST TPMS is used on Airstreams, and will not interfere if you have TPMS on your towing vehicle. It can also be used on your towing vehicle.

Thanks

I have a 2017 F350 and installed the Ford tpms system on my 28ft international I will also mention that I have Michelin Rib tires. .I mounted the control box to the center of the forward fixed axle with zip ties.Programming was simple and it works perfectly. No regrets

Yesterday I did get the sensors installed on my Classic wheels. No leaks so I guess they work. I have not run the cables as yet so have not been able to test the system.
