fixing my bent wheel

I knew I had a bent wheel during last trip so rotated the spare into that position. Now after inspection I discovered 4 of my 9 steel 19.5 steel rims are bent, have wobble side to side. The clipper 34 is new to me for about a year. Previous owner bought it new in 1996 but got old and did little maintenance. Looks like he slammed over a few road items as well.

Best price for a new rim I found to be about $200 delivered.

So I've embarked on straightening them myself.
It's been awhile since I have done this. Maybe 18 years. And nothing larger than a car 15" steel wheel.

Here's the process. Work with "outer" wheel side. Spin wheel on hub and mark high spot/run out with chalk. Remove wheel. Place flat on ground. With a large heavy long handle mallet, strike mounting flange on side opposite of chaulk mark. don't get carried away. go in steps. put back aon hub and repeat until you get tired of trying to be perfect 'cause it is a heavy bitch of a wheel tire assembly and 10 lugs to tighten and remove so much

got alot out. not perfect. not as good as I have done with car wheels. will report back after awhile.

Have you looked for a truck suspension shop to see if they have a means of spinning the wheel and straightening them without the SHOCK method?

Nothing around here. Mid to big trucks here don't even balance tires.

Could send out I mail order for repair but given their labor cost might as well buy a new rim.

update: firestone is my spare and it's evenly mounted on it's rim. It's rim needed a little tweaking. I put it back 30 minutes ago. Ran ok while it was in use after the crap winston blew. No complaint with the firestone.

Michelin on tag axle, one rim needed tweaking. Michelin on front axle both rims ok. I bought the 4 Michelins to replace the summitos on front, winston on tag. Winston blew out crap tire. Summito had a bad band, probably ok brand. Previous owner had this mix of tire brands on the motorhome sumitomo winston firestone hercules.

Now working on hercules tires on drive axle. Geez. Every hercules tire bead is not even on the rim. High spots in circumference of these tires match the uneven bead on rim. Geez. Will try to break bead and reset, lube the bead while represureing but geez.

How's yall's hercules tires? Crap?

How much does a rim cost vs an Airstream?

I tweek a rim, I buy a new rim. I'm not about to worry about 100 dollars for a new rim vs 100K Airstream?

What am I missing?

Swallow the cost, and get a new rim.
Cheaper than a new Airstream.
