New 2017 30' international serenity. No documentation on wheels. From reading, Want to upgrade to 16s but only have 1/2 clearance between front wheel and front of wheel well trim. No posts say anything about having to trim wheel well so it hough maybe I already have 16s? The wheels measure 16 edge to edge which make me think they are 16s but tires are the Goodyear R15 which make me think they are 15s. I don't know much about any of this so asking, what do I have 15s or 16s. If 15s how could 16's possibly fit with an existing 1/2 inch of clearance?

If the tire says R15 you have 15" tires. Hopefully someone with a similar model will comment on the 16" upgrade. Doesn't AS offer this as an option at purchase? I would run this all by your sales person and the dealer too.

You might want to post the full numerical data from a tire's sidewall so everyone can be reading from the same page.

Also if tire reads 16 then 16 inch what it is. Bill

It would be generally referred to as a 16" tire, if I understand your question, wouldn't it?

Tires are easier to discuss IMO when the full numerical specs are posted from the sidewall of the tire, and the brand.

google discount tire direct, at top of page will be 8 items, click #7 info center, scroll down, will find info as to what markings are on tire including date of manf.

It ain't edge to edge, but where the bead sits. something like 235/75R x 15 is a 15 inch tire. Some place on a door frame or in a cabinet or drawer is a label with tire information.

I thought maybe I had 16 wheels since I have virtually no space between front axle wheel/tire and wheel well trim, can I really get 16s on here with this much room to spare? And why do I have so little space?

Within each thread shown in the search results, you can "Search this thread" for different parameters, but be sure to toggle on "Show as Posts" if available.

PS -- Just to suggest again that your sales person and dealer should be able to help also. It may be that only a slight mod of your wheel well will necessary. We are planning on going to 16" also at some point, but our model [FC20] apparently does not require mods to do this.

You have to think about wheels and tires as a whole diameter; just because you upgrade to a 16" rim doesn't mean the wheel as a whole gets bigger. Your 15" rim with 225/75R15" right now is 28.29" in diameter. If you upgraded to a 16" rim but mounted a 225/70R16 the wheel only grows to 28.40", an increase of only .11 or 11/100th of an inch. Any wheel/rim app will help you understand this concept.

As to why you have so little space? Are you sure the sidewall of the tire isn't behind the wheel trim?

Mark I think Tony posted the same info on the other thread. In general it is easier if a discussion stays in one thread or the other. The photos on the other thread (incl your recent one) make that thread the logical choice IMO.

I went from 15 to 16 and now have 1/4 inch clearance. (and that isn't much) I closely monitor it but have had no problems for the past year or so except putting my tire covers on can be rather difficult to squeeze between the tire and the wheel well. You should be OK.
