chrome hubcaps 15" bubble

Hi, I am trying to find someone who sells some chrome hubcaps for my 56 bubble.
They are 15" 6 lug wheels made by General Wheels and the hupcap is approx. 8" on the inner lip and approx. 9 1/2" diameter.
Thanks Dave

This is always a hard thing to get right...the first time. You may, like me, become a hub cap collector. If you send a photo, and precise measurements on the wheel/cap lugs/nubs, maybe I can help. You also have to be sure the center is "coned" enough to clear the axle/bearing cap.

Hi, Thanks for the contact but Im still looking. The correct measurement is 8 1/8" on the rear and 3 1/2" high.
Can anyone tell me if my wheels are original airstream or aftermarket.
They are split rims with general wheels stamped in them.
I thought its no use chasing rare hubcaps for something that not original.
Cheers Chippy

Chippy if they are split rims then most likely they are original. However this is one item you should replace. Split rims are dangerous. Finding someone here in the States to work on them is almost impossible.

If the rims are split rim type as posted above they are likely very original. However you have another issue. Many (to most) car and light truck tire stores won't service those rims. Due to safety regs, insurance and general problems of the past. Heck, if you were at a camp site and told people you had split rims some wouldn't come near your trailer.

My advise, (which has no value at a tire store) replace the rims and get caps to suit your want. There are rims that have a look of that period. Here is one such vendor. Wheel Vintiques

Just make sure the wheel has the specs as far as fit and load capacity for your application. Then get a cool looking one of that flavor.
