Centramatics

Hi all,

I am considering the purchase of Centramatics to go on with my new 16" Sendel T02 rims. I expected to be ordering the 200-221 Special version of these.

When I emailed Centramatics about shipping, I also mentioned what I was going to be doing with the new wheels & they recommended a different Centramatic model number.

From them:
'GOOD DAY
YOU CAN USE A SET OF 300-356 MUST SPECIFY WITH ALL "A" PLATES FOR 16"RIMS'

For those of you more familiar with the Centramatics, what do you think of this recommendation?

Thank you for any advice.

Hmmmm, I'm certain I have the 200-221 Specials with my Sendel T02s.

Call them and clarify.

Hi, those are the ones that I have [10"] but they also have 12" ones that I would rather have had. I think they list the 12" ones as for fitting a Jeep.

Thanks Robert.

Why 12"? Do they work better with a larger diameter ( more mechanical advantage)?

Thanx.
I have emailed them for clarification but thought I would post that question here.

The 300-356 will fit a 16" wheel as will the 200-221AS, but the 300-356 will not fit a 15" wheel.

Ah, that answers it. I had my Centramatics when I had my 15" wheels...forgot about that.

Aistream Centramatic device on Backorder

I called Centramatics today (8 August 2013) to check out my back order status for the "200-221 Special" used only on Airstreams and it may be into September before they ship those units out.

YMMV

Centramatics told me that with 16 inch rims you can use the larger version:

From Jerry: YOU CAN USE A SET OF 300-356 MUST SPECIFY WITH ALL "A" PLATES FOR 16"RIMS

We first installed our Centramatics when our 2005 Bambi still had the 15-inch OEM wheels, and they fit the 16-inch Sendel T02's when we switched. With balanced Michelin LT tires, I'm not worried about the "Airstream special" Centramatics not being large enough to balance the running gear.

Just my opinion, but if I had to decide again, I'd buy the same Centramatics from Andy a second time and not worry any more about it.

My centeralmsatics are still sitting on the shelf waiting to be installed. What side goes against the drum? Or should I say what side does the raise bead go on. The rim side or the drum side?

The ones for 15" wheels will still be effective with 16" wheels. IIRC, Centramatic states that their products start to perform their auto-balancing at about 30-35 mph. So if a Centramatic made for a 15" wheel is used on a 16" wheel, the RPMs of that wheel will be less than the 15" wheel at a given road speed. So a 220-221 will just start it's effectiveness at a slightly higher road speed.

Just called Centramatics, Friday, 9 August, and the 300-356 with all A plates for 16" wheels is now on back order along with the 200-221 Special units.

So apparently the Blue Beret article hasn't hurt sales.

To clarify Centramatics part numbers as they apply to Airstream use on 15" and 16" six lug wheels with 5.5" bolt circle.

The 200-221 Special can be used on both 15" factory wheels and the 16" Sendel wheels.

The 300-331 can be ONLY on 16" wheels and some folks have ordered them for SenDel wheels.

As of this afternoon, 9 August, both models are on backorder. There was no clarification if this is from great sales or of a manufacturing or raw materials supply problem.

According to the tech specialist at Centramatics, it doesn't make any difference as to bead in or bead out as long as it fits. I did bead in on my AS and bead out on my TV. All seem to be working perfectly.

True, check fit. IIRC both the original AS 15" wheels and the Sendel T02s would not allow clearance for "bead ring" to the outside.
