FWIW, my SOB came with the Dexter Never Adjust. After my second trip with them, I jacked up the trailer to check everything out. Brakes on two of the 4 wheels had adjusted so tight, I couldn't turn the wheel by hand. Had my dealer look at them and they talked to Dexter and reduced the tension. Next time I jacked up the trailer, two other brakes were over adjusted. Since I figured that wasn't good for the brakes, tires or MPGs. I said to hell with these and had disc brakes put on. No more problems. Trailer stops faster. AND if I blow a seal, I only loose 50% of the brake capacity on that wheel.

As far as I'm concerned, that was some of the best money I've spent on upgrades. I had Performance Trailer brakes do the install. They did the work at a park while I was on my way to my SOB brand rally at the Albuquerque Balloon fest. Took the guy about 5 hours. New brakes, bearings, and a relube. Very happy with the results. Had to decrease the gain on my controller. Also have learned that there is a slight delay in the brakes taking hold, maybe 1/20 of a second. But as noted, they do stop faster, so stopping from any significant speed mare than compenstates for the delay. Delay is caused by the electric hydraulic pump getting up to pressure.

Al,

No doubt I'm a disc brake club member but a small correction.

I'm betting that any leak on your or my system is a complete system leak. We have one supply circuit feeding all calipers and any leak that pump will pump the reservoir empty right quick. It's not set up with dual master cyl system like our cars and trucks are. Drums, one goes bad, remove bad parts, cut magnet wire and you're at least able to continue.

I do carry a brake line union and plug. This allows in the event of a caliper failure that you can remove the supply hose/lone and cap it off. Now you can continue on with the remaining brakes to get repaired.

Disc brake fan.

Hi

Just to complete out the info, I had it up around 7 a while back. I've bumped it down a couple of times. More or less, bump it down, see how things do for a week or two of towing, bump it down a digit or half a digit and see again.

Thanks. I plan on adjusting mine as you did on our upcoming trip to the factory. I did put brake inspection on my list, and hope they hold up well on this trip.

Hi

Pulling the wheels is not a cheap thing to have them do. That and the pulling over three times as you head out are the only real downsides.

Yes, I thought about the cost of doing it and the chance of them messing something up that is not a problem now. But I decided to err on the side of caution in case there is a problem waiting to surface on a long trip.
