Baby moon hubcaps

I have 1973 Overlander with the orginal wheels. I have baby moon hub cap clips on those wheels. What size baby moons do I put on the wheels?
Where is a good source to buy them?

Brian

Here is a recent thread on this subject. http://www.airforums.com/forums/f465/good-source-for-baby-moons-57491.htmlWe've

If yours have the clips with the 7-3/4" opening you can get them from a few sources. I've seen them in stainless steel and chromed steel.

We've been looking for some as well. This is the source I am considering. Hubcaps and Wheel Covers at Hubcap Mike's to Buy Hubcaps Online

This is the only place that I've been able to find that has them in stainless steel. They aren't cheap though.

Good luck,

Kevin

I think the OEM hubcaps on 73s were full hubcaps. They came on my 73. My 71 has baby moons. You can find them on ebay. The originals had 3 grooves around the circumference and were also used on Ford or Chevy or other pickups

I am a dissatisfied Hubcap Mike customer and don’t recommend him to anyone.

He’s polite and solicitous when he’s seeking your order but arrogant and disinterested when it comes to after-service.

No instructions come with the cheap, thin Chinese-made 'stainless' caps. You learn, by denting the first ones then calling him, that you need to use vise grip pliers to “roll” the inner rim so that it’ll fit over your nubs.

They are in no way a universal fit as advertised.

He’s sulky about replacing or even giving a discount on the ruined caps. His attitude is “buyer beware.”

I’ve had my caps for a summer and a half and they are all pitted with rust.

Look around for local dealers who sell heavier, better made products rather than deal with an Internet based conman is my advice.

Sergei

Sergei,

Are you sure you bought the same ones we're discussing here?

The wheels with "Nubs" are later model and use a different hub cap. Hub caps that fit wheels of his type are often referred to as baby moon center caps and they will not fit the "Clipped" wheels. This vendor sells baby moon center caps that fit "Nub" wheels that are chromed steel, not stainless. They also sell the "Clipped" hub cap in stainless steel.

I'm not defending the vendor just confirming post accuracy.

Regards,

Kevin
