Are THESE split rims?

I think I finally have a picture of some real split rims on an airstream. He said that this airstream has been sitting for 20 years and who knows how long the wheels and tires were on it when it got parked.
These are on an airstream I just bought on eBay and am going to pick up but now got to figure out how to do it with these. I think I will just bring a set of four new wheels and tires.

I would say yes, that small crack in the outer rim @ 5 o'clock makes it a split rim

Yes, be very careful with them if you try to air up the tires.

Yes, those are clearly split rims. The outer ring has the split allowing it to be pried off to change tires. They are under significant pressure and extreme care must be used when removing them. They also have been known to fly off on their own and cause serious damage to anything or anyone nearby. They were banned many years ago.

No the only thing I plan to do with these is take them off the vehicle and throw them away.
Any danger in just taking them off the vehicle?
Going to go with four new aluminum alloy rims with Goodyear marathons on them.

As long as there is no air in the tires there is no hazard.

Yup. Take 'em off. Put 'em in a pile and run over them repeatedly with a bulldozer or steam roller. Then cut 'em into small pieces with a cutting torch and finally send the pieces to all corners of the globe so that they can never coalesce. Seriously, buy some replacements right away.

I have split rimmed wheels on a military trailer I own. There's only one tire shop in Salt Lake City that will touch them, and the owner sends everyone out of the service bay when he works on them. Be careful!

Yep! Hard to find anyone willing to deal with them (for good reason).
We have them on the old Spartan we bought. We had to put new tires on to get it home. We found one shop to mount them and they were expensive. We plan on replacing the axle and getting new wheels at some point.

I concur, but don't forget to get rid of those tires!
