Are these REAL AIRSTREAM wheel covers?

These wheel covers are on a Tradewind I'm thinking of buying. I've never seen this wheel cover on any A/S...just curious if these are something that was offered "back in the day" or some aftermarket phony that someone put "airstream" on.

thanks

Mike

But are they original AIRSTREAM!?!?!? Are they a COOL Airstream find or are they some wheels covers someone made? Could they be adding value to the trailer?

They story of the wheel covers could push me over the edge to tackle the restoration project of let it go.

Mike

OK - they are "real" OEM Airstream wheel covers found on some of the earlier trailers. I have seen several of these in the past on some of the junkers I have looked at. What years were they made for and what option they came with - I do not know but you don't specify those in the original post except to say it's a Tradewind. There are others more knowledgable on here about cosmetic specifications for years, models, sizes, etc. I do know that there are an equal amount of exceptions to every rule on what came on certain trailers. I doubt you will ever have the final answer to your question "do these belong with this trailer????" unless you have a photo of the trailer coming off the line at JC.

Thanks CB...I've been around this Airstream thing for 20 years and owned 4 of them and looked at a bunch....I've never seen that wheel cover. They're on a 65 Tradewind, set of 4...just thought they might be rare. Maybe they are since I've never seen 'em.

Thanks again
Mike

I saw a pair on a 2 axle Overlander "out in the woods" near here that got hit by a tree. The owner did not want to part with some of the stuff but was willing to let me have some window hardware from the damaged windows. The hub caps looked cool and I tried to deal for them but he said no.

Good luck on the TW.

I was searching through threads on clips for hubcaps and came across this one. I've got 4 of these that came off a 1964 Ambassador Int'l Land Yacht. The original split rims came with the clips attached to the rims (some kind of spring steel affair). I replaced the rims and now have these puppies without the means for attachment. the outer edges of the hubcaps have pre-drilled holes around them for what I think should be a clip attached by a rivet, but I haven't found anything to meet the need. Anyway, I'm glad I could be of some help in the mystery of the hubcaps...or maybe not any help at all.
