If, as they say, they can increase the lateral stiffness by a factor of 5, I would like to see them on the rear axle of my tow vehicle.

Would reduce sway a lot.

how long before someone figures out a way to clip baseball cards onto them with a clothes pin? just like we did with our bikes back when we were kids!

then you can make cool sounds going down the road!

thoses tires if you can call them that look alot like the ones nasa used on the lunar rover.

Why do I get the impression that they will be rubber-covered and designed to wear out in a similar fashion to our current tires? Gee, they may be nicely more expensive to the end users, too.

We all know there just has to be some "planned obsolescence" else the manufacturer wouldn't stay in business for very long! Mix in some "early adopters" with the "planned obsolescence" and you have a fine example of American marketing!

Thats just about the most ridiculous thing I think I have seen in some time .
I really doubt youll see those idiotic things on any vehical anytime soon.

I think the idea of not needing air is a good idea and it looks like the tires can handle compression and perforation without mishap. I'm curious, like SafeHarbor, on what the performance and wearability details are. I think they look cool too!

In the photo of the car ,the streetside webs show distortion ,just sitting ,how squishy are they going down the road? normal tractor tires never deflect that radically either ,Trying to reinvent the wheel , still ridiculous

I like the idea. It would eliminate the biggest problem people have with tires and that is under inflation. Tires and wheels have been improved many times over the years. Split rims and tubes are a thing of the past. This could be the next phase.

Thanks for bringing that back..
I had seen this before and, quite frankly, forgot all abt it.
The possibilities are endless with this concept.
Choice of synthetic materials, radical design application..
Kevlar for road side bomb proof..
Lateral explosion forces would just pass thru the "tire"...lol
Even the use of BuckyBall construction materials techniques could extend the life of the tread significantly..

Innovation brings risk with it, since new ideas are by definition untried and unproven. Risk-taking is the fuel that powers the process of change!
