I was topping up my tires yesterday when I found one valve hissing. I quickly popped on the metal cap and went searching for a valve cap with a valve stem wrench. No luck.
I stole a cap from my mower at home and tightened up the valve stem. No more leak. The stem had apparently unscrewed enough in 15 months of use to become unseated.
I found that the valve cap with the wrench would screw onto one of the adapters that permanently store inside of my 12v
compressor. Where the Airstream goes, the truck goes and where the truck goes, the 12v
compressor goes under the back seat.
I will not be caught without a valve stem wrench again. Everyone should have one available.
