A reminder about tire valve

I was topping up my tires yesterday when I found one valve hissing. I quickly popped on the metal cap and went searching for a valve cap with a valve stem wrench. No luck.

I stole a cap from my mower at home and tightened up the valve stem. No more leak. The stem had apparently unscrewed enough in 15 months of use to become unseated.

I found that the valve cap with the wrench would screw onto one of the adapters that permanently store inside of my 12v compressor. Where the Airstream goes, the truck goes and where the truck goes, the 12v compressor goes under the back seat.

I will not be caught without a valve stem wrench again. Everyone should have one available.

Thanks John,
A leaky valve was the cause of my last flat. I had been parked for a few weeks and when I did my pre-flight test I got a zero reading from one tire. Glad we had a spare and when I took the tire in later they just replaced the old valve stem.

PS great article in the new Airstream Life!!

Glad to hear that the magazine is finally out. I haven't seen it yet. I hope my wife comes home with it in the mail tonight. We're rural delivery, so it usually takes more time to get here.
