2009 27FB Bearing Part Numbers?

Does anyone have bearing and seal part numbers for a 2009 27FB? In searching the Forums I haven’t found the numbers. I pulled one set off my trailer and confirmed the inner is 25580 but the outer was unreadable. A visit to my local NAPA Store was disappointing when they couldn’t match up my bearings to anything they had. I want to get new seals and one set of bearings before diving into the other three wheels in case any need to be replaced or have a spare in my tool kit. Thanks.

Trailer axle bearings are rather standard. The one part number you mentioned was the same as my 86 Limited. I assume your trailer has 12" drums. Axle bearings are not exclusive to Airstream trailers.

I might recommend you take your your bearing to your local trailer shop that might sell and service trailers of all types; not necessarily RVs or Airstreams. They can likely better help you out. I'd also take the axle brake drum with you.

Well I dove into the second wheel after venturing to Airstream for seals, taking a risk that all the bearings will be good to repack. The second outer bearing had a legible part number and confirmed what I had found for “similar” trailer models or years. Here are the part numbers for a 2009 27FB.

Inner bearing: 25580
Outer bearing: LM67048
Seal: TRP GS-2250DL 2017 02 (part provided by the dealer)
P02860 TO 2.250 3.371 0.376 (previously installed on axle”

BTW, it took about an hour to do the second wheel, from getting the jack out to finishing and setting the trailer back down on the driveway. Along the way I learned how electric brakes work, that this trailer has self-adjusting brakes installed and that all the running gear looks good (so far - will tackle the left side tomorrow). I highly recommend this job to anyone with a little mechanical aptitude and the time to do it! It’s really not all that hard and there are plenty of YouTube videos out there if you haven’t packed bearings before.

Thanks David, I think you are right about going to a trailer shop. After reading several posts of people getting bearing from NAPA I expected them to have it. One of their employees told me that all bearing parts are unique and I would have to go back to the dealer to get the right parts. Maybe I hit them on a bad day. I do want to get one set to keep with me as a spare when we travel.

Don't rely on an auto parts store or even trailer parts store. Call Dexter (574) 295-7888 and give them your Trailer VIN. They will tell you (and email you) a data sheet that shows your axle, when it was ordered, which bearings and seals, etc. That gives you the absolute correct info. I was trying to do what you are, and the frustration led me to call Dexter and finally got the info I needed.

You might find a Dexter axle identification label on the axel itself. I think they are on the front of the tube roughly centered. With that info call Dexter as advised or they have extensive resources on their website for part numbers.

I completely agree with pskier!

The Dexter factory bearings and seals are sold in kits and they are not expensive, made specifically for your axle and do you really want to skimp in the #1 area that keeps your AS rolling down the road???

For those of you with EZ-lube axles, after installing the newly repacked bearings, be very careful when pumping in more grease through the zerk, do it very slowly while continuously rotating the hub assembly or you will press out your inner seal by over pressurizing the grease. Torque everything to spec and please do not over tighten your nuts!
