I did the same both times. I got five Michelin LTS with five 16" Sendels. I have never had to use the 16" spare, but if I did, I want to leave it down and make the repaired tire the new spare.

I don't have a problem with a 15" spare on the current 15" wheel when all 4 remaining Goodyear Puff-up-athons are 5 years old- 2 years from now.
This money hemorrhage has to stop.
My previous trailer had 15's and a 14" spare. My truck has 20's and a 17" spare.
A spare is just that- meant to be used temporarily until the regular tire is repaired/replaced.
I do appreciate the heads up on TPMS. Apparently with the dill system is better quality- in 5 years when you get new tires you get new sensors-
I've lived without it 31 years with no ill effects- maybe I can continue to live without- looks like a lot of money for "what if".

Money hemorrhage...too funny. It has stopped for me. In anticipation of forthcoming fixed incomes, I spent like crazy for 4 years to get the AS and ancillary gear (that I didn't already have from prior RVs) set and mods made so it would all be in place before retirement. I now find myself wondering what I can do other than regular maintenance....and I can't think of anything. The money drain just stopped!

It’s not just the money hemorrhage that you think you see. Using Luce and Raiffa Games Theory, you assign the probability of something happening, multiply that by the cost to determine the likely expense. On that basis figure out the probability of a blow out (which I have, unfortunately, experienced), and multiply that by the cost of the repair . . . and voila, it’s more than the cost of new wheels and tires. What you are attempting to do is to maximize your minimum utility (namely, not to have to spring for new wheels and tires) – but Murphy’s Law will invoke itself at the least opportune moment.

16" Sendel T03 wheels on the way-
Firestone TransForce HT LT225/75R16 tires to be bought locally next week closer to when the wheels come-
Lug nuts ordered AccuWheel LNA-12000C6 Chrome Bulge Acorn Wheel Lug Nuts (1/2"-20 Thread Size) 1.4" Tall - Pack of 24 Lugnuts(not McGard, but better than OE)- will get here about the same time as the wheels-
Centramatic 200-201 Special wheel balancers ordered-
Trailer Aid ramp ordered to put it all on the trailer-
The only thing left to wishy-washy on is Dill TPMS-
I'll just have 4 15" Goodyear Puff-up-athon spare tires-
I have gone a long way to prevent future headaches and anything I've done will make it better than it was before.
I'm just a poor, broke man wanting to live like a millionaire-
For the difference in cost, if I get TPMS, it might as well be Dill-
What's another $310 + shipping to what I have already invested in truck, trailer, and mods?
With all that I have bought, a blowout seems a whole lot less likely, and I am not sure TPMS will prevent it. Mybe it will because I have the ability to see tire pressure and temperature from the truck cab? Hmm...

I guess you are right- $1,700 is less than an exploding tire tearing up my wheel well and the side of my trailer. I do have insurance, but hope to never use it due to inconvenience and headache-
I guess these do-dads will make an already fine rig finer-
Trouble-free towing for the next 5 years, then tires and TPMS sensors-
Hmm...
Maybe $1,700 is a small price to pay- if I just had $1,700...
I will retire in 21 years possibly- maybe it will all be sorted by then-

I also bought my Dill TPMS system from TireRack.com - got the kit with 10 sensors (5 for AS & 5 for TV including spares).

At the time, I ordered five 16" SenDel T03-66655T wheels along with a SenDel galvanized steel wheel for the spare. I figured having a spare aluminum wheel would keep Murphy at bay and I would not damage one of the other four.

Mine is a 1999 Dodge Ram - it doesn't have factory TPMS; hence my ordering the 10-sensor kit.

M hony,

Make sure you figure out which sensor is in each wheel by id number to chip number. Mark temporary ID.

My first system had A B C D collars, matched chips. Second system no longer externally coded sensors.

Dill reports by position. So need to know which is which.

Just a caution.

Gary

The sensors kit I got did not have any external markings, so I used "Lettraset" stick on letters with a bit of clear nail polish to mark all my wheels.
