Xena Lock With Alarm For Hitch Coupler

I just purchased a Xena XTL-1 Bullett Trailer Lock for the hitch coupler. It fits my 2005 Safari 25' LS hitch. The coolest thing is that you can set an alarm to scare away any wannabe thieves. I am using this in conjunction with a wheel cable lock and have a hitch lock on my receiver. I feel I have my bases covered to deter the common lowlife. I have posted a pic of the Xena. The demo for the virtually indestructible Xena is on www.xenalocks.com and we purchased through their distributor pnbdist@comcast.net. My wife saw these locks at a horse expo she had exclaimed "Aha-this may work on the Airstream!" So I'm posting a picture of the lock too. This is slick.

Looks like a good layer of security to add.

As you may be aware, from what we know of the thefts reported here, most are conducted with advance planning. The speculation is that, in most cases, the trailer ends up being towed with a chain a short distance to a hidden location where the thieves can take the time necessary to remove any security devices.

In that case - the Airstream user who has a "Boot" on one wheel might be onto something...

I use a security chain around the spokes between the two tires on one side which is similar in effect to the boot-like devices. The boots make sense for single axle trailers. Someone could in theory remove both wheels and fit other ones but that's time consuming and therefore rare. I'm not under any illusions that the chain is 100% secure (a grinder or cutting torch would go through it fairly quickly) but I think it's an improvement over a coupler lock.

A while back somone posted some Youtube videos of different locks being picked. It was suprising to see how easily this was accomplished. It would be nice to know how pick proof these locks are before shelling out almost $200.00 for one.

I bought a MASTER LOCK 2/5/16 ball for my landscape trailer. This lock sells for between $30 and $50 bucks. I thought this was a good lock and it is,but I had it open in less than 3 minutes. Im by far not the best lock pick around I just dabble. So an experienced person can open any lock its all in a few seconds, knowing how they are made and what picks to use.

The breakaway switch does swivel. In the picture the cable is draped around the jack while not in use. The cable does connect to the T V properly during towing.

Every year at the Dayton Hamvention there is some one selling lock picking kits and books. Every year I almost buy it and then walk away.
Maybe this is the year I learn to pick locks.
