WTB - spring bars

I am having trouble finding some light weight spring bars. No local RV shop has any used. Even having trouble finding where I could order some new ones. Need Reese/drawtite round-bar w/flat chain end.

Hello,

I'am just wondering what size you are looking for. I noticed you have a 1973 31' Sovereign. I use 750 pound bars on my 1970 31 foot sovereign, and they seem to really do the job well. I was lucky because they were the bars I received when I purched the rest of my receiver used. Found mine on e-bay, but the guy was local.

Just to add a quick thought...

My set up are the bars with the flat chains also (not the auto centering stirrup type). My set up, Reese, also has the friction brake that came with the receiver. I have never used the friction brake, because I don't experience any lateral (side-to-side) sway issues (I did physically attach it once, but never adjusted any friction to it). If the road I'm on has several dips in it, I do feel a slight vertical dipping (porposing), but I think that is more the shocks on my truck, than anything to do with the sway bars,

Try riding, as a test, in the absolute rear of your trailer while it's being towed 60 mph or more.

I think your opinion of no sway would change.

Let us all know your thoughts, after the test.

The Reese dual cam is far superior to the friction sway control. It has a brain, the friction does not.

Gael79, I'm setting mine up for a Hensley that I picked up on Craig's List. I didn't have any bars with it.

For the size TV I have, Andy recommends 550 - 600 bars to give me a soft tongue. My truck is a 2500 Chevy PU 4x4. I wonder if that still applies to a HA? Any thoughts Andy?

I found 600# bars on etrailer for $130 plus shipping. I'm still looking for a better deal.

The 600 pound bars would be good, but I think the lowest rated bars available for the HAHA are 1000#.
You can go through the HAHA user's guide thread here on the forums, or call Jared at Hensley.
BTW, we have the Reese 750# dual-cam for our Sovereign, and 2500 Silverado.

Thanks overlander. I had to exchange the 2" drop for a 6" drop from Hensley. Jared told me that they use reese/drawtite bars. Also talked with them about trying to fit Rock Tamers on the hitch. Suggestion was to grind down weld on plate cover or get extended hitch. I chose grinding.
