Question Which bars do I purchase?

I am considering the purchase of a 78 Airstream Tradewind 25ft (twin) with an empty hitch weight of 670lbs. I am also thinking of getting the Reese dual cam load-leveling hitch to go with it. Do I select the 800lb bars or the 1000lb bars? Thank you, Bill

WOW!! What a GREAT thread that was....thank you. I now feel much better informed about ALL the variables and more confident that I can now make a good decision. My TV is a 1994 GMC 3/4 Ton Suburban w/factory tow package. Since my hitch weight may never exceed 800-850 lbs, I'm persuaded that the 800lb bars are the right choice for me. I want to get that 1 inch bend in them thar bars, and maybe a bit more!! Bill

Good luck with the bar hopping.

Good idea! Consider it "done". Bill

Bill, if you're interested in understanding what is happening when you tighten the load bars, you might like to read here:
