I would love to see if it works, but have no idea what it is, if I can get a tension bar that fit, or if it even works at all.
I'm hoping with the vast knowledege on airforums, someone might give me some insight on this mystery.
Thanks,

That device is a "friction type" sway control, that was a JOKE, and still is, the day it hit the market.

Do yourself a "huge" favor by cutting it off and using it as a paper weight.

Andy,

I have a request...would you please quit beating around the bush, and tell us what you really think up front?

Steve

I had one of these on my old SOB about 25 years ago. One trip on the highway, and I couldn't get it off the trailer fast enough.
In theory, it was great, but in practice it left much to be desired.

Thanks asflycaster and excella cm. I guess if this had been a great design (back in the day) it would still around. Probably a good reason to not try to be "clever" and rig something up to try to make it work. I'll take it off and use a more modern device.
You guys are great, thanks everyone for the advice and insight.
Marc

Thanks Andy and Terry.
At least I now know what it was "suppose" to do. It'll be coming off this week. Think I could sell it on Ebay for a paper weight?
I really do appreciate your help on this.
