They sometimes come up on ebay but demand a high bid. Look out for very old models - they may not be supported by the company.
The company also has referbished setups on their web page but again are in the almost new price range.
I'm sure they are worth it, very few are resold and the owners usually use them on their next trailer instead of selling them with their old trailer.
Others have posted Craigs listings with Hensleys for sale.
Good luck - they go quick. remember - unless the hitch was set up for your exact setup - there may be parts to buy - but if in a recent serial number range the company may exchange the bars for new ones. They have details on their web page and I am sure others here that have them will chime in.
I started looking into for a used hitch recently. I called Hensley and picked their brain on some of my questions. The do not warranty anything below the #5500 serial numbers. Periodically they change this to later model serial numbers.
Last night I won a hitch on ebay. I figure the worst that could happen is that I would have to purchase another hitch bar or possibly some lighter spring bars. Anyway I feel that I will come out ok in the end as I am paying $750 for the hitch. The one I am purchasing is too old to purchase the warranty but then again I'm too cheap to purchase a $500 warranty (pure profit for HA) even if I could.
BTW - I've got a nice Reese dual cam freshly painted with Por 15 and top coated with Eastwood satin black chassis paint if any one is interested!!
I'll be visiting the HAHA thread for certain. I think I have read every post. I was going to bid on a different hitch last week that went for $600 but it was older and I would have to change out the brackets which are $130. I took some measurements and I believe the hitch bar will work with my TV and trailer. As for the spring bars - They are 1000# - I'll try them but may need to be changed out.
This auction was a "pickup only" - no shipping and I think this kept many people from bidding. I will pick it up Friday night after work about 75 miles north of me. I feel kind of silly to be so excited about an old hitch
Here is a pic from the ebay sale.
I picked up a used Hensley from the factory off of Ebay, the hitch was about 2 years old, completely reconditioned with 1000# bars and a life time guarantee, I saved $1,000.00. The factory also gave me the correct reciver bar(correct drop) for my truck and trailer combo, great people to work with. all in all not a bad way to go, almost new and got to work with the factory for correct set up.
Last Friday night I picked up the hitch. It all seems to be there just some dirt and rust. The dirt and rust are free with the hitch - kind of like buying an old Airstream.
It shouldn/t take too much work to get this thing cleaned up.
The hitch seems to work smoothly and overall I am excited. I will need to get some new shear bolts (grade 2 I believe) when I install the hitch later this winter/spring. After I repaint I will also see if I can get some new decals from HA. The bushings for the spring bars have only a slight amount of wear indicated - the previous owner kept it well greased.
The HA people were very nice to me in answering all the questions I had before the purchase. Serial #2278 - it's older but should be very serviceable.

We do offer the refurbished hitches from time to time. Not during December because that's when we run our sale on the new hitches. Don't hesitate to buy a used one. These things last forever (except for the paint, I know, I know). I saw unit number 5 last year in Florida and one of our owners says he has 500,000 miles on his and has never done anything other than the normal maintenance.
The warranty is avaible after a certain serial number (not sure where it's at now). It's $495 but remember that gets you hitch bar exchanges as long as you own the hitch.
Even if you don't get the warranty, get the S/N of a hitch you're interested in and call us. We can tell you where it's been and how many owners it's gone through, etc.
