my understanding as to your questions, and based on having the correct drop stinger...

---3 holes is ok, i've got 2 open holes exposed, and the spring bar attached to last hole.

too many holes exposed will required further tightening of jacks for adequate tension...

---level is certainly ok for the main body; might be the ideal position under tension.

---the bars won't break under maximum flexion, but after reaching the "rating' additional flex doesn't transfer more mass...

---which 'line' depends on # of holes exposed and amount of weight transfer needed...

---you'll need to measure steering/drive axle weights on your tv for the most precise setting...

BUT using a tape measure to level the trailer and restore tv attitude can get ya pretty close...

here is my early experience with the process, the first 40 or so posts may be useful 4 u ...

visited CAT scales - the numbers are in...

IF you have weight distribution, tow vehicle/trailer adjustment questions (which apply to all w/d hitches) please add your questions/results to that thread!

Looks like a good install... shorten the chains a bit and inside, it's all good.

I had the jacks on the other side of the pin for a year and no adverse results other than a little repainting.

You are going to love the hitch...45mph crosswinds in the Mojave on the way back from NM on the install... not a burp... I saw 2 other trailers rolled on the way back to CA.

Peace of mind is priceless!

No, the jacks sit outboard of the frame and behind the bottle cover. They don't rotate that far forward.

take a quick look at the photos in post 30 and 105...

the jim's install pics in 203.

the jacks have plenty of clearance for the the bottles and cover...

BUT can/will/do bang into the FRONT trailer skin while hanging on the brackets,

IF the jacks are unattached at the bottom to the spring bars.

so anytime you let them 'hang' during assembly, or disconnect from the spring bars, watch this.

oh, and depending on how screwed/unscrewed they are during this...

they can wack ya in the face too! been there done that.

Not sure how I missed those pictures since I have read through this thread a few times.
I have the holes drilled in the frame, now when time allows I wll finish the paint job on the HA HA and hang it on the trailer.

like mike noted there are options...

i use the cartridge style grease gun with a 1 foot flexible hose and standard grease fitting...

about 20$ from napa...a tube of grease last several months; perhaps a year.

yes the bars can be dropped out for greasing, but that is messy and more work...

also hensley recommends lubing the bars every 500miles...

i hit mine with enough to ooze out the old stuff every couple of days while on the road...

this may be overkill but according to them 'you cannot grease too often'

with the grease gun it takes less time than checking tire pressures....

as an aside the screw/stabilizer jacks on the airstream also need greasing occasionally.

the jacks have the same size zerk fittings...so the gun does double duty.

in the pics of the 'spring bar swap' you can see the fresh red grease just squirted...

I'm buying a grease gun tomorrow....what is a "standard grease fitting"? Is there a specific "size" I need to buy for it to fit the grease zerk on the HAHA?
