hey tin diesel...

THANKS for the post.

it is really nice when something we try to do here...

helps others.

it feels good too, when users acknowledge the effort...

like you have.

hi jim...

my understanding is a/s started lengthening the safety chains a few links..

in late 05 or 06, and exactly for the haha users.

so you may only need 2-3 links per side, if any.

they also lenghtened the 7pin cord in 05.

mine is plenty long with the haha...

check the photos in post #62 and #102 above...

and here...

http://www.airforums.com/forum...1&d=1151615642

so i doubt you will need the cord.

your rebuilt carries a full lifetime factory warranty correct?

so what you really did was same some money!

let us know how the install goes and take pictures...

photos really help IF/when questions arrise.

cheers

Thanks

Thanks 2air. This thread really convinced me, thanks for starting it. I have never had any sway problem but when I think about my family in the truck with me I want what is safest. So many very well informed users are very happy with the HA that it has to do what is claimed.

Yes full lifetime warranty. When I spoke with Hensley I asked about refurbished units so Shawn checked, he gave me the SN 7192, which sounded familiar. I went and checked ebay sold items and sure enough it had been sold. I called him back and asked him to check to verify he had the unit, which he did. The ebay bid was lower than his quote as he was trying to recoup his $50.00 ebay fee. I got the ebay price, which seemed fair.

Thanks Jim

In appreciation

Hi 2Air...
point well taken on recognizing the contribution of this thread. Thank you again for starting it. I have learned much from this forum, and now try to give a little back.

Looking back over the year since we bought our A/S, its amazing how many of our decisions have been significanctly influenced by the opinions of the members of this forum.

So... thanks to all!

Which HA

I received my HA last night about 7:45 pm, so I didn’t do anything except haul it to the back patio. I had a chance to look a little more closely after work today. It is a reconditioned unit but looks as new, including paint and accessories. I do have one problem it is not the hitch I ordered. I bought hitch # 7192 I received hitch # 7846 so I don’t know what gives. Hitch # 7192 is listed on my invoice. I will call Hensley in the morning to find out what is going on and to insure my SN matches my warranty. I would like to know how old this hitch is so if anyone would like to pass on their SN and age it would be a great help to establish the age.

Thanks Jim

hi jim

purchased my haha 2 years ago...

the serial number is 76xx so yours looks to be newer.

unless a 2nd serial number is assigned to the reconditioned models...

inside my owners manual was a perforated warranty card.

lifetime warranty activated ONLY after returning the completed card.

have you got this card?

i agree, it is best to call them.

cheers

My Hensley is serial number 08332, and I purchased it new on 06/01/06.

Yes I have the card. The serial number falls between 2air’s and moosetags so I assume 18 months or so. If the original serial number is correct then put it at 3 years or so. If Hensley use new numbers for the reconditioned unit it must be a special series or it would be higher than moosetags. I was going to repaint the hitch before install but the wife seems to like the orange so I may clear it. I have my sail making sewing machine set up as I am replacing all the canvas on my boat which Katrina blew off, so I will make a cover for the hitch. I will check with Hensley tomorrow and get the correct information. I can tell you it is not going back, it is to heavy to haul around and repack to ship. Someone else may have my hitch and I have theirs. Very happy with the quality and can’t wait to install and tow.

Thanks Jim

I agree with your wife. A HAHA is SUPPOSED to be Orange. I know that 2air has painted his black; I guess it's a stealth thing. Painting a HAHA other than orange is like putting a Yugo badge on a Cadillac.

I like the orange when hooked, a safety item. When parked and unhitched might be like a flashing beacon to a thief. I have some gray vinyl I will make a cover out of, I also have some sunbrella but it is green. Sunbrella may be good as it breathes good, is water proof and has a life span of 5 to seven years with a huge selection of colors.

The wife is a retail visual director so I tend to go with her ideas.

Started Install

I spoke with Hensley concerning the S/N number difference, they just changed it their computer database. I have a newer hitch than I thought so good for me.

I started the install after work today. I started installing the frame brackets first, which is out of sequence but I don’t see any problems. The back of the cross member on the A frame lines almost exactly on the 25.5 inch mark. I will have to drill out the rivets holding the propane line so I can slip the bracket cross piece between the line and the frame, I assume this is what everyone else has done. I hope to complete it in the morning.

Thanks Jim

hi jim

just looked for a good picture to show gas line placement...

no luck.

tin d's picture is post 153 has a glimpse (enlarge it)

my gas line was move toward the midline slightly more but this must vary some of each trailer...

this only involved nudging the gas line and moving 2 of the vinyl coated retainers...

i'd suggest doing a full mock up before drilling any holes...

"measure twice cut once" is echoing in my brain...

and don't forget to fill the previous frame tongue holes with something.

i recall some folks having issue with the tank cover contacting the forward most u bolt/bracket...

and since we lack photos of a member doing the install, why not take some and post them!

cheers

Will, do, I have the camera ready to go. It is Mardi Gras weekend here in New Orleans and I have several parades/parties to go to. I will do the install between parades. BTW Mardi Gras day will be 70 degrees.

Thanks Jim

2air----I just bought a set of "hitchin rods" that look to be a help when aligning with my haha. Havent had any problems aligning without them but you know how this, "lust of the eyes", can be. There is an SOB here in the park we're at with a haha that is leaving in a couple days. We're going to try them on his as he's leaving before we are, besides wife has flowers all over our hitch. "Don't even think of moving them" !!! The only bummer about the purchase was when I came home after my purchase, $27.95, I found the mfg web site and looked it up. Come to find out the SUGGESTED LIST PRICE is $22.95. #@%$^ and this was at an Airstream dealer. Ugh !!! I don't expect a discount from a dealer I bought from but over retail $$$ upsets me. This same dealer tryed me on my haha but I did a little more research before buying it. Just a reminder to do your home work pricing before laying out the Green.---------pieman

Hensley for 19' or 23'?

Does anyone have a Hensley on a 19', 20' 22' or 23' AS?
We are finally making the decisions necessary to buy an AS and the hitch is next. Other choice is the Equalizer.

Thanks,

Pat
