Here is another reason NOT to tow something behind the Bambi: The axle is already underrated in this trailer and regular loading of personal items and supplies (water, fuel, food) puts you at capacity or over. There is little chance that you are going to balance your trailer load properly with such thin margins. Yes, you can replace the axle with a higher rating, but how much money do you want to put into this project and still find out this isn't going to work?

Oh, forgot to mention, look for posts from a user named COLORADOBUS for info on the 16' Bambi axle problem.

Yup both tandem axle. Nope never had a problem with sway or anything else. Probably dumb luck. But keep in mind the catamaran is wider than the AS so I can still keep an eye on it.

Nobody mentioned yet it is impossible to back up a double trailer.

Lots of states are passing legislation to ban double trailers except for commercial vehicles. I know for a fact that Florida and Alabama have passed that law within the last year. My dad used to tow a small aluminum trailer with a Kawasaki Mule behind his big equipment trailer with a tractor/loader on it. He was stopped by a Florida DOT enforcement officer and informed of the recent changes. Apparently, they not only will fine you, but make you leave the offending trailer on the side of the road until you can come back and get it legally.

bah. you just need a traveling buddy. you tow the bambi, the other tows the boat.

besides, then you have a rescue vehicle to go get parts if the other breaks down.

Paolo,

The link below is a chart of towing regulations for all states. Montana does allow the triple tow, with a limit of 70 ft. You should double check with your DMV to make sure nothing has hanged.

Is there a way to put a canoe on top of your tow vehicle? Perhaps using some kind of a rack to hold it above the pop-top? Aluminum canoes typically weigh about 75 lbs.
