Sway Control Only possible for my small Vintage Trailer?

I would like to find out if there is a Sway Control system available without the usual weight distribution component for use with my small Vintage Trailer?

The 2800 pound trailer will be towed behind a 2016 RAM 2500 with rear air leveling with an "alt trailer height" option. So weight distribution should not be necessary when towing a trailer of this size. I'd still like have anti-sway.

Does anyone know of a stand alone sway control system that might fit the bill?

You would also need the sway control ball mount from the same page. That lets you couple the friction anti-sway bar to the tow vehicle. The other end mounts on the trailer A-frame.

Note, if the drop on the ball mount is not right, it's going to possibly take some modifying and welding to get everything lined up right so the trailer tows in a level attitude.

Why not carry it in the bed of the truck?

There are a couple electronic sway control devices, mounted in/on the trailer itself that control the brakes separately, Tuscon Sway Control is one. Not cheap, but effective.

Check you truck manual....it may have built in sway control. Our Titan XD has this and your turck may also. It could be all the extra you would need.

Hi Silverwind:
My vintage 1967 22' Airstream weighs only a few hundred pounds more than yours. I have used this Reese sway control for over 50 years on this trailer. It looks just like the sway control "vintagemotor" shows in his Walmart hyperlink.


AlinCal hyperlink shows the Reese Sway Control with an Adapter. I don't have the adapter because I don't need it. I only use one Reese sway controller because my trailer is light enough I don't need the 2nd one.


Should your trailer start to sway a light application on your trailer brake controller will put a small drag on your trailer which will help to straighten out the sway.

I think that was tongue in cheek.

Maybe it means your trailer is small and your truck is large so put the trailer in the bed of the PU.

I'm considering the Reese Pro 83660. I ran it on a 2012 International 19. I need to determine if the frame rail width is sufficient and the 24 ball center to center clearance is possible......form afar.
