Spring Bars Strong Enough?

My Reese spring bars are 800# rated. My hitch weight is 730#.
Do I need higher rated spring bars? Am down to 2 chain links to the yoke.

I would go with what you have. That is about the same ratio of tongue weight to bar capacity that I had on my International. That trailer towed perfectly. I would rather have bars a bit light than way too heavy.

Unless the bars have a pronounced curve when tensioned, you should be OK.

Dick,

Do you mean that you have only two chain links from the hooks on the trailer A-frame to the spring equilizer bar? If so, then that is not enough to allow for forward and aft travel while turning. You should have at least six links there.

This adjustment is made by changing the angle of the hitch head. Yours would need to be pitched further downward to change the angle of the equalizer bars.
