Reese Dual Cam Sway Control with SOB WD hitches?

Can a Reese Dual Cam Sway Control be used in combination with other brand weight distributing hitches. Specifically, can it be used with a Husky?

I am virtually certain that the Husky won't work with the Dual Cam HP, but I would be more confident that the classic Dual Cam that uses U-bolts for mounting might work -- particularly with the trunion style Husky. The key would be whether the bolt-on saddle would match the bolt-holes used to attach the chains on your Husky bars -- I imagine that it would be possible to bore new holes to match the saddle, but don't know whether that might not, in some way, compromised the integrity of the bars.

Good luck with your investigation!

How is the "Dual Cam HP" different from the "classic Dual Cam"? just the U bolts?

Cams are bolted onto the w/d bars rather than using a bend in the w/d bars that act as the cams. The bolt on cam follower levers are also entirely different.

I thought that a couple of photos might help to illustrate the difference:

Greetings Lumatic!

Yes, Reese does still offer both versions, but the classic style is something of a back-burner item that isn't even mentioned on their website. As an example, I found the classic style Dual Cam listed at this link.

Good luck with your investigation!

My father had a Reese Dual Cam (classic) installed and operating with his Eazilift round bar hitch. He said it "helped", but at the time he also had TWO friction sway bars on the trailer. It was the big three axle Avion, and he towed it with a 3/4 ton Suburban.

Years ago, many owners used 2 friction type sway controls.

Most of them still had sway.

The trick is not what you may use, but is it the correct type and rating for the intended job, as well as properly installed, and, properly adjusted.

Unless the answer to the above is yes, yes, yes, problems will still prevail.

Load equalizing hitches is not a rocket science, but unfortunately, many owners, to this day, refuse to accept facts, and totally disregard professional experiences.

Any travel trailer will track correctly, without a sway problem, "IF" and only if, the three factors are indeed positive, along with a good tow vehicle.

If even one is negative, the "booze" is certainly on the menu, at every truck stop. The booze helps reduce the "white" knuckles, or seemingly so.
