When I looked at the Reese website and went through the photos, the third from the last appears to show an Equalizer, not a Reese. The Equalizer bars are square and larger than the Reese bars and have a red decal on them with the arrows. I could almost make out "Equal-i-zer", but the photo was too blurry when I blew it up.

Not all reese sc hitchs have tapered bars. I have a 750lb model that I bought from etrailer and my spring bars are square. Although since being involved in this thread I tried to find a link to my exact hitch I can not find it for sale anywhere. The prices has gone up considerably since I bought mine about 4 months ago.

Nothing wrong with your eyes Gene. I have an Equal-i-zer brand hitch and would recognize the logo whether blurred or not and when I enlarge the photo I can definitely read the name, not to mention that it is a close-up of the L-brackets and retainers. I'd know them anywhere.
Makes me wonder, hummm.

The only thing I wondered about was not whether it was a photo of an Equalizer, but how anyone at Reese could be so dumb to post it on their website.
If Equalizer decides to sue them in a patent infringement case, that photo will be priceless, or perhaps, more accurately, pricey.

Whoops! The photo was in a magazine article about the Reese hitch, not on the Reese website. The magazine editors screwed up (and me too). Glad I rechecked that. I looked on the Reese website and couldn't find any reference to the SC series at all.
Whether Equalizer has a patent case, well, that's another story…

After studying this SC hitch design, I've decided I like the idea of it. I specifically like the part that once it is setup, that's it, no changing the stupid cams every time you change the load slightly like with the " High Performace dual cams" system.
So then, I have only one question for Reese...Why don't you put the same brake pad material on the stupid " High Performance dual cams", and make them work even better Yet?
That is, once you get them adjusted right.........

The photo I referenced was on their website. As you said, it was the third from the last photo in the string of photos. Perhaps they are monitoring this thread and saw their mistake and took the web pages down before anyone else saw their snafu until they could re-work their ad. I bet someone at the ad agency or website administration is in hot water right now!

So it sounds like the magazine just copied from the Reese website.
