Others more knowlegeable need to jump in here - but it's my understanding that welding on a chassis member can be as problematic as drilling.

We have the dual cam and have had the holes drilled on this Airstream as with other trailers before. The clamp ons won't clear our set-up as I recall. Dealers did it for the new trailers. No word or indication of a problem. There is an adjustment that can be made to the spacing however the Oregon dealer never seeing a Reese before switched over our hitch and drilled the holes in as extreme position as possible and now we cannot adjust it further though it is properly seated now. I had to stop at another general RV dealer in Idaho who also had not done dual cams but got readjusted it to have the bars seated properly on the cams which the Airstream dealer's tech had not. I had the factory check it when I was there in January and they said it was fine. Make certain whoever measures not from the front of the hitch but from the center of the balls placement in the hitch, the size around those vary and the tech had obviuosly mismeasured or taken the measurement from the wrong place. Check you directions even if someone else is doing the drilling.
