Receiver rating?

OK...here's the dumb a** question of the day.

11 years ago, I bought a new TV and Draw-Tite receiver. I have pulled a 5000 pound SOB with it. I have lost the paperwork for the receiver. Think I left it in the old SOB with all the manuals.

Got an 8500 pound AS in July. It just dawned on me....I wonder what rating receiver I bought all those years ago. I have contacted Draw-Tite twice....no help. See, the label is long gone and there are no markings on the receiver.

Draw-Tite now makes two receivers for my TV. One rated for 7500 lbs. and one rated for 10,000 lbs. (all figures reflect W/D setup) The only line drawings available online (and apparently to Draw-Tite tech assist) don't give any metal dimensional specs at all!

The 7500 pound one weighs 34 pounds.
The 10,000 pound one weighs 42 pounds.

So, off mine comes (it needed painting anyway)...it weighs 44 lbs.

Do you think I am safe in assuming I have a 10,000 lb rated receiver?

Nope. It's on the bench. I looked closely....no stampings whatsoever.

What is the pull rating of the vehicle? If I was doing it that would be the one I would have put on, Heaviest possible hitch in case I changed trailers. As long as I could afford the heavier one. When I need a hitch for a bike rack, capacity of hitch wasn't considered, found dealer with hitch and could install, did it, recently I was selling vehicle and someone asked hitch rating, it was marked 5000 pounds, it handled 3 bikes and two kayaks with no problem.lol

Dave,
You think like I do...but there are a few bad sectors in the old "hard drive". I believe I would've bought up, as you say, in case I traded. TV rating is 7,800 lbs. I KNOW, I'm a little light for my AS! Let's not start that discussion.
