Receiver Locks

I just got some lifelong locks.I am wondering if the hitch lock is supposed to be a snug fit on the outside of the hitch itself.Shouldnt it have some play in it?Thanks Everyone.

Don't know about the Lifelong, but I have a Hurd Lock locking hitch pin and it has a little play on each side after it is locked. Also don't know if it would be a problem if it didn't have any play.

I don't think it really matters. I have seen them with a large bent nail in them, just so they won't open is all that matters for towing, if you are concerned with someone taking your trailer then you might want a lock.

Out here I am more concerned with my hitch being stolen. Hitch thieves regularly cruise the parking lots of Albuquerque and Santa Fe for vehicles with hitches. An unlocked hitch is gone in seconds.
