The BOLT receiver pin lock is a 5/8" Class V and apparently made in USA.

Without quibbling, I followed your link and didn't find anything about "made in USA" but Amazon showed China.

Looks like the winner!
DeadBolt

Of course, I have to consider that the BALL sold by Equ-i-lizer Hitch is also made in China. (Even though the hitch is made in Utah)

Not following the issue with it being made in China. Millions of items are... Are there quality concerns? Have reviews stated it has had issues? It's quite a simple item. I own one and haven't had any issues.

I'm sure the metal is just as good as US metal.

Could you provide a link as I didn't see any reference to made in China on Amazon? e-Trailer also states in their demonstration video (at about the 2:37mark) that the BOLT is made in the USA.

Okay, follow your link and scroll down, YOUR vehicle says "Origin, Mexico"
On my Toyota, the text says "Origin China".

The only one I've found that says "Made in USA" is DeadBolt.

About that bridge in San Francisco!

I have to say, I'm shocked at this forum. This is the place where "If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing" is a way of life. Minutia about lug nuts torque, Cat scales, tire tread, TPMS and Micro-Air glory, and when I ask about a "made in America" I get many responses saying, "Mine's good enough".

I missed in your first post you wanted it to made in the US. I thought the concern was brought up after the product was mentioned which is the reason for my comment.

Regarding "good enough", and while I can appreciate "over doing it" this is item is a metal pin that goes into a hole with a lock. Not much to compare or evaluate outside of the lock.

I did a page search on Safari of the Amazon page for the BOLT Chrysler hitch lock and the BOLT Toyota hitch lock and found none of the words "origin", "Mexico" or "China". Not sure where on Amazon, YouTube, or the BOLT product page you found any origin information. As you were pre-disposed to the "Deadbolt" before your OP and didn't really want input, I can only assume that you were just trolling us.

I wrote to BOLT. They design and manufacture the parts in USA but they are assembled in Mexico.

I for one was heartened by Mollysdad wanting to avoid Made in China goods. Whenever practicable, I do so. Partly because of the total lack of health and inspection standards from Chinese manufacturers along with abysmal worker protections/pay and partly because I'd prefer to pay slightly more to backup my beliefs. Goods from Japan, USA, Canada and similar countries are all on an equal playing field but when there is the rare USA company of equal quality, I'll overpay to support my fellow citizens.

Every dollar is a vote.

That said, I'm using the cheap Chinese one the AS came with so this thread is a great reminder that I have to square that away before the season begins.
