ProPride Dealer Drop Off Ideas

I can release the draw bars and pull the stinger assembly out of the receiver. Then quick mount my tongue adaptor but the dealer is still not going to like the ProPride head swinging. What are thoughts on making it stationary. Currently the trailer is in storage so I wanted to get a head start on ideas.

What about a 4 x 4 assembly to make a strut to go in between the back of the drawbars that also come into contact with the underside of the trailer frame. Strap the drawbars to it horizontally and then strap the drawbars and 4 x 4 assembly vertically to the trailer tongue. Would that keep the head stationary enough I wonder?

Last time they finally let me park it myself but they said they would not let me do it next time. I need to drop off Wednesday.

Sounds like a brilliant idea, go for it.

The factory uses a stinger like you show. They clamp the heads on either side with a set of vice grips. Someplace here on the forums, maybe under my user name, is a photo of how they handle it.

I did have it secured with the suggested vice-grips and a strap but they would still not move the trailer with the pro-pride. They did offer to remove it and re-install it for a 4 hour shop rate charge. After a fairly lengthy discussion with the service manager they finally cleared a spot next to the service bay and let me park it myself. It will stay there until I come and get it. This is beyond frustrating but at least it is being serviced. Since it is now out of warranty this will be the last service I will ever have done by a dealer. So I'll just live with it.

After studying it a bit this morning I do think a couple of machined side blocks and a piece of all-thread would completely secure and lock the head in a matter of a few minutes. I discussed this with the service manager and he said that might be allowable if there was absolutely no way it would move, but that is for someone else deal with now.

My question now is how long to get my extensive punch list approved by the factory. Service guy said they have to write it up and send pictures. Once they get approval they will then order parts. When the parts come in they will actually do the service. He warned me that if that takes too long I may need to come get it and take it back with they have the parts in hand and can reschedule the shop time. Glad this is my last time!!!!

Just guessing you are talking about the Denver area dealership. Exactly got the same song and dance and don't use them for service. If I need stuff done I take a road trip to Jackson Center. Good luck...

Simple as that.

All that came thru was the stinger. Don't see any locking plates.

The part is called a LOT bar.
It is meant only to move the trailer around the storage yard, not long distances.
The plates fit under the cover on top of pivot and prevent it from moving. They are not in photo.
This is a new item from Propride. Sean as always very helpful.

+1

Colonial installed my ProPride and they've had it for other service appointments a couple times since then. I leave them the stinger and there are no questions, no problems. If any dealer gave me a hard time about my setup I would be off their lot before they finish talking.

ProPride Dealer Drop Off Ideas

Had no choice for warranty but won't be back. I did not buy it from them either.

I would have rather done the warranty repairs myself but am determined Airstream spend the money to fix it even if I wind up redoing it, which won't surprise me.

How much was the LOT bar? Might carry one in case of break down/road repairs.

I saw this tip on the forum some time ago (thanks andreasduess) regarding what to say to a towing service if you need them to tow your ProPride equipped trailer.
"I need a tow truck with a 2 by 2 receiver and a wheel lift. I will supply the hitch hardware. The truck needs to be able to brake a 7500 lbs trailer."

The tow company knows what the above means. They will use your stinger to tow you. The lift will raise your Airstream to the correct level.

Greetings
Is it possible to get a little more info on this Lotbar and the plates that come with it? It's actually the plates that I don't understand, so if you could shed a little extra light (or even a few images) that would be great.
Thanks in advance

Cheers
Doug

I looked on their website, nothing there, but I did send them an email asking for information and have not heard anything back yet.
