While empty, measure from the bottom of the truck receiver opening to the ground and compare between the two trucks as a starting point. Note that both trucks should have a full gas tank for comparison purposes.
The changes in the springs between the model years may impact how much the new truck squats under load as compared to the older vehicle. Most drops are in two inch increments which can become problematic in getting the trailer level with the weight distribution hitch systems.
